The Year Of Fun

Each year of my life has a theme (I just don't remember them all). 2006 was The Year of Yes, 2007 The Year of Laid Off, and last year was The Year of Finishing the #$@ Book. That was not fun. However, 2010 is The Year of Fun. I know it may seem that I had fun last year. But trust me, it wasn't nearly enough.

I went to a wine bar tonight to meet a friend who turned out to be running late. So, I got my wine (Chilean, in support of the post-earthquake efforts) and sat by myself. This woman sat next to me and we proceeded to talk for an hour about being unemployed, single, in our late 30's and really fucking happy about all three.

It was fun.

Just for today, I'm enjoying The Year of Fun.

Suzanne :

Thanks for keeping it real and for the sanity check. Love, love, love your blog!

Wow! I've never thought of assigning themes to my years. So, do you usually preassign them or wait until the year is over and assign the title as kind of a summary?
I guess if I had to title some of mine, they'd go:
2003 - Year of getting my head out of my @ss
2004 - Year of Fear, Independence and Finding Love
2005 - Year of Oh Crap and Adventure
2006 - Year of Living Better
2007 - Year of Enjoying
2008 - Year of Being Mental
2009 - Year of Straightening Out and Being Happy
2010 - ??? Who knows! It's too soon to say!

Haha, Serena, that's great. Those would have been my exact same themes for all of my twenties, and early 30's. I now try to have a goal for the year that I state at the beginning of the year in a vision board of something. I know it may not be very "balanced" but it's hard to do everything at once. Last year was so stressful that I decided to swing the other way.

Yep, as I'm settling into my late thirties, it does seem like I should have goals. I guess this year is the "Year of Being Healthy," and that can apply to lots of things.

I'm wishing YOU the best year ever!

I love it that you have the Years of. I tried a year of clean living, but that lasted about two days and twenty-two seconds. The problem was every morning I had to wake up and then it all just fell apart.

The Year of Fun, though. Now that is inspiring.

(saw your comment at Betsy Lerner's and really liked what you had to say.)

Thanks Lisa! I'll be sure to check out your blog. ;-)
